SCHOOL & GROUP TOURS

School Tours

​Our tours are designed to meet grade appropriate learning objectives, and promote critical thinking, cooperation, and hands-on learning. School tours are available on Tuesdays and Fridays.

 

How tours work

  • First and second graders get two 1/2-hour museum learning sessions led by museum staff and one additional scavenger hunt or museum mini-tour.

  • Third through fifth graders get two 45-minute learning sessions led by museum staff.

  • Middle and high school programs last two hours, and will be scheduled based on your needs.

Hands-on History

  • Life in a Wisconsin Logging Camp

  • Pioneer Life

  • Going to Hillkrest One-Room School (Available May to September)

  • Outdoor Games (available mid-April to September, weather dependent)

  • Make a Marble Run Challenge  

  • Mystery Bag Challenge

  • Lego Build Challenge

  • Rube Goldberg Challenge

Cost 

  • School tours are $5 per student

  • Chaperones and teachers are free

Additional Ideas:

If the weather is good, you can eat lunch in Wakanda Park. Consider visiting the Menomonie Lions Club Game Park next door which features buffalo, white-tailed deer and elk. An educational nature trail helps all ages learn about native trees and plants.​​

Group Tours​

Customized options are availabe for groups of all sizes and ages, for fun or professional development. 

​

  • Scouts: we can work with your to earn your badge!

  • Seniors: outings or activities at the museum or at  your location. Note that the museum is accessible.

  • ​Family or class reunion: add a museum tour or activity to spice up your event.

  • Corporate groups: team-building activities that develop creative problem-solving and communication.

Interested in renting space?​

If you'd like to use museum spaces before or after your scheduled tour, Holtby Hall and Rassbach Auditorium are available to rent. Call the museum for details.
